Table Top Sale - 29th November

Thanks to everyone who helped at Sunday's Table Top Sale to raise funds for the Group. We had a full house this week with every table taken.

There won't be a sale in December, but they will return in the new year with sales on January 31st, February 28th and March 28th.

Cub Football Competition

Boyne Hill Altwood Cubs enetered a team in the District football competition on 28th November.

Although their results were mixed, winning some, losing some, they were very pleased to win the Sportsmanship Award!

Scout Night Hike - 20 November

On a foggy night north of Marlow both Boyne Hill Altwood Scouts and the Boyne Hill Scorpion Explorers entered teams in the annual night hike.

Both Scouts and Explorers managed a second place - well done!

Table Top Sale returns this Sunday

The popular Table-top sale returns to the BHA Scout Hut at the back of Altwood School in Altwood Road this Sunday 27th September.

Set up is from 8:30am.
Cost is only £5 per table.

Sale starts at 9am until 1pm.
Entrance 50p Adults, free for children.

Scouts District Activity Day - Sunday 26th June

8 BHA Scouts and 2 leaders enjoyed a day at Longridge water activity centre near Marlow last Sunday. Activities included raft building and sailing (also sinking), use of new climbing and abseiling wall, canoeing and manning the Dragon boats. The weather was good and all of the Scouts returned home safely albeit with wet clothes.

Quiz / Games (AGM) Evening - Friday 10th July

All members of the Group will receive a letter this week about a quiz and games evening (which will also have the AGM thrown in).

It will take place on Friday 10th July at 7:30pm.

We look forward to seeing everyone at this fun event.

Boyne Hill Altwood Beavers win Challenge Trophy

The Boyne Hill Altwood beavers have been awarded the Maidenhead and District Beaver Scout Challenge Trophy. The 10 six to eight-year-old boys were the winners of the annual competition which involved staging a play, putting up tents, tying knots and learning about healthy eating. Beaver Scout leader Marion Jackman said: “For the number of beavers we have, they did get a lot of badges. “I am really proud of them and they did really well.”

Allan Brown - Lifetime Service to Scouting Award

Congratulations to Allan Brown who has been given a Lifetime Service to Scouting award. Allan has been a member of a number of scout groups for more than 50 years, and is still an active member and vice chairman of the Boyne Hill Altwood Scout Group having helped the group relocate from its previous location in Rutland Road over 20 years ago. He was presented with his award at the Maidenhead District Scouting’s annual general meeting last month.

Maidenhead Carnival Parade

Boyne Hill Altwood Scout Group took part in the recent parade at Maidenhead Carnival which raised £376.95 for the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice as well as running a popular tombola stall at Kidwells Park raising money to fund attending the WINGS 2009 camp. Thanks to all those who took part!

WINGS 2009 Parents Meeting

There will be a meeting at the Scout Hut for all the parents of Scouts who will be attending the WINGS 2009 international camp at Windsor Great Park in August. Notes are going out to parents of all attendees this week.

The meeting will be on Friday 3rd July at 9:00pm.
